A Celebration of Life – The Supreme Libertarian Pleasure

Ah, the joys of Libertarian Pleasures. There is your favorite music—or maybe the pleasure of stimulating books and fascinating works of arts. How about vacations, journeys and adventures. There are wine, women and song or maybe wine, men and song. And of course, in connection to these there is almost everyone’s favorite activity. Making love or whoopee—drowning in the sea of love—just plain having sex—whatever you want to call it is one of the supreme Libertarian Pleasures.

You may be wondering why I am claiming that sex is a Libertarian Pleasure. After all even altruists, socialists, criminals—and heaven forbid—politicians indulge in sexual activities. So how can I boldly state that it is exclusively a Libertarian Pleasure?

A Celebration of Life

I believe that only a totally integrated person experiences sex as a celebration of life. Others may still enjoy sex—however, they miss the totality of the experience. Why? Because reaching the heights of ecstasy during sex means fully experiencing it with your body, mind and spirit.

I have heard people state that sex is vastly over-rated. The activity falls far short of the fantasy. You are overwhelmed with a tremendous urge to experience your sexuality. Sadly, the actual sexual encounter leaves you frustrated—it doesn’t rise up to what the poets or even the romance writers so passionately immerse their readers in. Heck, even pornography makes it appear more than it is. How tragic!

The Body

A strong, healthy body is a prerequisite for receiving the maximum of physical pleasure from making love. If your body is flabby, weak from years of neglect—and desensitized from continuous abuse, it will be incapable of feeling the highest states of pleasure. If one partner is healthy and the other unhealthy—the physically fit partner may be capable of raising his partner to a high state of pleasure. However they won’t be able to reach the highest states of ecstasy.

The rationally selfish individual—the libertarian—exercises and eats in a healthy manner. To abuse your body through unhealthy eating, gluttony, drug abuse, excessive alcohol consumption and lack of exercise is irrationally selfish behavior. And we all know that an individual who wants to walk the path of “The Libertarian Way” and enjoy Libertarian Pleasures to the max—lives his life as a rationally selfish individual.

The Mind

When I speak of the mind, I am talking about both the reasoning and intuitive side of the brain. During sex, total brain integration results in an individual reaching heighten states of ecstasy. You are emotionally experiencing extreme pleasure and because of this you reach an expansive state of clarity. At least that is how it should be. Many never soar to this level of pleasure and ecstasy. No celebration of life for them.

The vast majority of people have dulled their minds over the years. Excessive indulging in television—sometimes 4 to 7 hour per day—has destroyed the power of their minds. Not only have they desensitized their body—they have condemned their mind to the same fate. People refer to them as “couch potatoes”—all starch, no substance or energy. Probably the only exciting sex they are aware of is the lovemaking of their favorite actors and actresses.

Once again I will state that it is irrationally selfish to dull your brain with frivolous nonsense—destroying the powers of your mind in the process. The rationally selfish individual empowers his mind. He or she seeks intellectual stimulation through reading, hobbies—and how about a mission in life. A person who is this excited about life and the possibilities of success and fulfillment has no problem celebrating his life—and sex is definitely one of the great celebrations of life for this individual.

The Spirit

Many Objectivists practice rational selfishness in their everyday lives—but unfortunately disdain the spiritual. Some believe in only what can be proved through deductive or inductive reasoning. Obviously this is necessary for understanding the ways and means of the physical world. Critics claim that Objectivism is a philosophy for the cold-hearted—that it has no heart— that it lacks a spiritual touch. I disagree with this faulty analysis. Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” is a monument to man’s spirit—what he can achieve when the best within him is transformed into purposive action. There is only one conclusion we can derive from this. “Atlas Shrugged” is a magnificent work of art. It is a spiritual masterpiece. Her heroic characters certainly celebrate their existence.

I think many Objectivists disdain the spiritual because of the disastrous results of organized religion. Also, altruists have misused mysticism by applying it to politics and other social issues—causing one disaster after another. I don’t believe that the destruction caused by the pseudo-mystical beliefs of altruists, do-gooders, world-improvers and politicians can be designated as spiritual.

The rationally selfish individual learns how to tap into the spiritual realms. First he gains control of his reasoning abilities—then he becomes proficient at utilizing his intuitive powers. Finally through meditation or some other spiritual practice he penetrates other realms of knowledge. And he or she reaches higher states of pleasure and ecstasy in their sexuality.

Conclusion

The rationally selfish person integrates the body, mind and spirit to experience a higher state of awareness. This results in him or her fully enjoying Libertarian Pleasures—reaching heightened states of pleasure and ecstasy. This person is willing to let go and drown in the sea of love—but in essence, he is actually enhancing his sexuality in an ocean of extreme ecstasy and pleasure —and experiencing a clarity unknown to mere mortals.
